Deadly Ponies open a new Auckland store

Nestled among boutique retail outlets and eateries, 16 Osborne Street is now home to Deadly Ponies’ second Auckland store. Once again, creative director Liam Bowden collaborated with interior designer Katie Lockhart, and there are distinct references to the flagship Ponsonby location: chunky display plinths reminscent of Brancusi sculptures and the Deadly Ponies logo as the only signage. But here in Newmarket, the plinths are closely grouped and more distinctly feminine - their geometric lines softened by the coral-pink colour that features throughout the interior. Accents of green, grey and gold marble add texture and solidity.

The space is relatively small, which adds to the impactful design, and pulls the focus squarely to the artisinal leather products on offer.  “I wanted people to feel they were stepping into a life-size jewelery box,” says Bowden.
