Auckland’s Takapuna continues its ascent from drab suburb to hot destination. If the recent arrival of Josh Emett’s Madam Woo didn’t drive the point home, its next-door neighbour Superette (store and HQ) will convince.
With Ponsonby and Newmarket branches established, and a vibrant Wellington outpost, over-the-bridge seemed like the next logical destination for James Rigden and Rickie Dee’s ever-changing mix of carefully selected Australasian brands. If you like your ponies deadly, your foxes felt, and your girlfriends stolen – you’ll find those brands here. The Hamptons-meets-industrial interior, by Material Creative, has familiar echoes of the existing Superette stores and chimes nicely with Takapuna’s beachy surrounds.
