If the shoe fits

Kathryn Wilson has long made some of the most beautiful shoes in the country but her new shop is her first foray into interior architecture. The boutique, designed by Wilson and builder Scotty Pearson, opened in February. Wilson wanted a more personalized space, taking the label back to its roots of being a locally designed product in limited-edition runs, she says: “It is definitely more of a boutique setting rather than a commercial environment, which makes it more relaxed and personal.”

There is nothing complicated about the cozy 56m² space. It’s neutral and fresh with, upstairs at least, ocean views over Herne Bay. Shades of white leave way for the shoes to pop from the shelves.  Shoes are lit by LED lighting, and a neon sign featuring the signature Kathryn Wilson heart tattoo in the window lets us know she’s in the neighbourhood. The upper level features an office space and a showroom for VIP private fittings. The VIP room can also be booked for corporate events or girls’ evenings.
